I am currently on an HOA board that has some pretty vociferous members. They question everything we do and are disruptive at times during board meetings, sometimes even trying to tape meetings. This book has helped make Robert's Rules more useable by simplifying the language and giving practical applications. I keep it on the shelf next to my copy of Robert's Rules and pull this book down every time I pull Robert's Rules off the shelf. I had to laugh when I read a section of the book in a bordered gray box entitled "How formal does it have to be?" The article described "Puggy Knuckleknocker" who is somewhat of a bully liking to show off his/her knowledge of parliamentary procedure (remembered from 5th grade). This can be intimidating to inexperienced and experienced board members and is one of the reasons the book is helpful to me.

Great book, get's pretty in depth, after reading, I passed a 300 question parliamentary procedure test first try with over a 95% Worth the read if interested in this stuff. Read it before you read the real rules, you will know what questions to ask. What I expected and so much more.

The book arrived on time and was well packaged. I must say this book makes life so much easier as I was recently elected the Recording Secretary for my Society. This books answers so many questions in easy to understand language.

I bought this book for the last Robert's Rules of Order version. It helped me tremendously run meetings, create agendas, review our bylaws, etc. It's very easy to read and provides tips and explanations that are very helpful. I highly recommend this book be used alongside your RRONR.

This is a great book - it recommends common sense approaches to parliamentary squabbles in meetings. It also guides you to setting up your officers and their duties. A must have for small groups....it makes order out of chaos.

This is an excellent guide for a newbie Committee Chairman. It certainly cuts through most of the unnecessary verbal clutter of meetings and how to stick to the point and gets things done correctly.

If you are getting into parliamentary procedure, you may find the Robert's Rules bible somewhat intimidating, unless you have a law degree. This book simplifies the complex world of parliamentary procedure into understandable and usable technique. The Robert's Rules bible is for quoting the rules, and this book is for learning the rules.

If you purchase Robert's Rules, then you also need the "for Dummies" edition. The paper back version of Roberts Rules I purchased with more than 700 pages is certainly made easier by the "Dummies" version. Also, I was grateful for the opportunity provided to contact the author with a question to clarify an issue. While the "for Dummies" version doesn't cover every single issue, it certainly does what we need for our homeowners association.

Others have commented on the lack of meaningful content so I'll refer you to those reviews. My 1-Star review is because this book seems to be trying to get sales based on the similarity of its title to the very useful 'Where there is no Doctor.'Please don't buy this book thinking you are buying that book, as I mistakenly did. This book is full of ideas on where you could go to get trained or educated in basic first aid. This is great for a list of first aid needs and also a list of basic first responder equipment. What good does that do me when say, a friend is bleeding post disaster and no ambulance is coming? I was disappointed at the lack of basic first aid directions as a friend suggested. Then I realized this is NOT the book that they had advised me to buy. The title was just too simular to a more helpful book. What I needed was how to make do during an emergency when there isn't access to a Dr or a stocked ambulance.

I am not the kind of person that leaves obnoxious reviews but this time I am making an exception. I was really hoping that this book would be a handbook for us to use in the event of a serious emergency. I am about 3/4 the way through and am tossing it into the Goodwill pile. So far I have "learned" that we need to keep healthy, brush and floss our teeth, cover our faces properly when we cough and sneeze, and most importantly, we need to wash our hands frequently. Put together a first aid kit. If we have to deal with the dead, we need to put them in a big plastic bag and document the death for the AUTHORITIES later (don't forget to label the inside of the bag with the information!). Lots of poop? build a latrine. There you go, now you don't need to buy the book. To think I had been kicking myself for putting off this purchase makes me laugh now that I have read it.

This is not a survival manual but it is a level headed, realistic and balanced approach to situations when there may be no access to medical care during some major event.There are some lists to assist in building first aid kits, suggestions for available free resources such as on-line downloads like the Coast Guard "Standards of Training Certification and Watch Keeping for Seamen" and the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) "Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Habitat in Prisons".These resources are good for when medical help is not readily available. The one about prisons typically refers to third world prisons and contains many useful things that can be utilized locally if systems and infrastructures fail.This book made me aware that I can not cover all possibilities and that I do not have all of the skill sets to be all things in the face of disaster. Therefore I have picked a couple of areas that I will focus on and be prepared for.I will specialize in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and basic first aid. So this book indeed was a good one for me because it helped me to see that I may have to rely on others such as family members, neighbors or my community to fill in those medical skills that I do not have, especially for a long term event.Not wanting to rely on neighbors or community, my choice is to look at immediate family members, if we each acquire separate items and skill sets I feel we will be fairly well prepared.I like the book and I like the balanced approach.

I sail, and at times there are circumstances where you need medical treatment and there is literally no way to get to a doctor. This book covers the medical advice and preparation I wanted. It doesn't go so deep as to be complicated, but it does give some very good advice to those who anticipate the need for medical help miles from civilization. I have some knowledge of medicine (I am a registered nurse), and I wanted something that would cover more than the basics. This book is exactly what I wanted.

Wast of money barely even touched on medicine or first aid mostly talked about Global warming 😏🙄 Please I payed for a first aid book not some crappys Authers Opinion on global problems don't buy this book

I bought this book expecting to find some useful information about handling medical emergencies when there is no doctor around. Boy what a mistake that was! There is about three pages of useful information in this book, a couple of useful checklists and a recommendation to take a first aid class at the Red Cross. Gee, Thanks. Other than that, it's is a bunk of general information and observations that any junior high school kid could have written of the top of his/her head for a health class assignment. Please don't waste your money!!

I am pleased with this book as it is a 'hands on' instruction type reference guide in several topics. You can keep it as such AFTER reading it thoroughly. What I appreciate is how this MD is very supportive without being an alarmist by explaining that it is not a matter of IF but a matter of WHEN some sort of major emergency will occur and there is not a doctor around.
