I've had this on my son's wish list for probably 2 years but nobody had bought it so I finally did, right after his 4th birthday. I knew I wanted it and it's such a good price, I should have bought it right away! I love how casual it is and I love the interview questions to ask your child each year. It has a pocket for each year as well to put a few keepsakes/art works from that year as well as a place for a picture. I tried to fill out things from his first 3 birthdays from memory but it would have been better if I'd had it to start 3 years ago. I'd highly recommend it to everyone, even if you've already missed the first few years.

This book is perfect for me! I am not interested in scrapbooking, but have a little mommy guilt about not putting together something cute and fun for my daughter to have when she is older. If 7 year-old-girls compare scrapbooks, my daughter is destined to wonder why her momma didn't deliver a scrapbook.Book description: This book has fill in the blank and short essay questions for each year. The questions are sure to create lots of memories for you as a parent. The book is intended to cover years 1-18 and there is a final page for parents to write a note to end the book.Types of pages:Photo pages - you'll need something to attach the pictures (like double stick tapeBirthday pages - one page for each birthday with questions for parent to answer about the day of birthdayInterview pages - once your baby can communicate, these Q&A pages will create fun moments for parent-child.Time Capsule pockets - with suggestions of what to put in the pocketBonus pages - fun activity pages which can capture your child's imagination or perception of the worldNice features:Spiral binding - If I add keepsakes, the binding will open to accommodate.Elastic strap - To keep the book closedQuality paper - Nice paper - ink won't bleed throughGender neutral colors - orange / green / white (think pumpkin and forest green)Something that might not be for everyone:On some of the interviews, there is a question of "what are your thoughts about God". This might bother some people, but I think it could be an interesting question even if you are not raising your child with a belief in God - they are bound to have friends who talk about church, God, etc. - so this is an opportunity to have a discussion about that topic.Something that might bother general consumers:There is definitely an ink (or paper) odor; I expect the odor will dissipate over time. The book is made in China.

I bought 3 My Baby Book from the same line (https://amzn.to/2GWT2WG) + 3 of this Your Birthday Book! This journal is great for someone who is looking for simple, clean, minimalist type journal.[Pro]- Covers from 1-18 years (few pages/year)- LOVE the "Time Capsule" page pockets to store cards and other keepsakes- Gender neutral- Affordable $10[Cons]Haven't found any cons yet![Tips]Highly recommend using instax camera (https://amzn.to/2GXiN9B instant camera that prints out on the spot) so you can make sure you have pictures each year.(Let's face it, who has time to print pictures these days?)Great journal for minimalist.

I love the concept and many aspects of this book but there are some things that I would definitely change if I was making this book:-Years 1-3 are all in the same section with only 1 pocket. The pocket is bulging because I wanted to put a handprint, birthday invitation, string for child's height, and a few other odds and ends in this pocket and there is barely enough room. Also, to keep the 3 ages from being all tangled up together, I had to separate them with envelopes for each age.-There is only one interview page for ages 2 and 3. It says on the interview page that it is intended for age 3 but can be used at age 2 depending on how verbal the child is. My son is extremely verbal and answered all of the questions at age 2 and I was glad I had the foresight to make a photocopy ahead of time so that I also have a page for age 3. It would have been nice to have the interview questions for both ages and people could just not answer all of them at age 2 if their child was not verbal yet.-One of the questions each year is "who is the last person you kissed". I don't know that my kid wants to answer that in an interview up through age 18. It could produce funny and cute responses in the younger ages but, if I was the child, I would have wanted a different annual question in place of this one.-In age 15 they have a spot where the parent answers questions about how things were when they were 15. One of the question is "when I (the parent) was 15, "hooking up" meant...." and then the child is supposed to answer at age 15 "hooking up means...". Really? Is that an appropriate question for this book? Does this REALLY need to be in this book? Do I really want to put what hooking up meant when I was 15? Do I really want to know what hooking up means for my child at 15? Even if it's a good discussion to have with a child, this is not the place for it and it doesn't need to be in this book. I'm glad it's the bottom question. Maybe I can cover it up with something decorative before my child ever sees it.-The "frames" (printed onto the page) for the pictures each year are very small and the sizes are not standard or uniform sizes. I had to order a wallet size photo of the photo I wanted to use and it still did not fit perfectly without cutting off some of the image that I wanted to keep so I just taped it on without cutting it down but it does bother me that it doesn't fit into the "frame"
