For anyone that loves the Detroit Red Wings, or ice hockey in general, this is a great book. Good information and wonderful pictures. It was better than I imagined when I saw it online. I used it as a birthday gift, and the recipient is a huge Yzerman fan... he absolutely loved the book. Said it was one of his best presents ever.

Got this as a gift for a friend. He loves it. Steve Yzerman was the epitomy of leadership. So many great teams under his tenure. Couldn't feel more blessed as a Wings fan.

A wonderful keepsake for anyone who was--and still is--a Steve Yzerman fan. A man with incredible accomplishments and integrity, he was a dedicated captain and dedicated to his teammates and his fans. His fans, in turn, were just as dedicated to him. And I think I probably speak for every one of them when I say it was a really sad day when he retired. It was almost like the lights went out in Michigan. We would have been happy to see him in a Red Wings jersey for many years to come. We would have been happy just to see him out there skating around. He is a shining example of what every hockey player should strive to be but he was pretty unique and he'll be hard to beat.

This book reminds me a lot of my all-time favorite Yzerman book, "The Making of a Champion," which came out about 10 years ago. It's pretty much the same format - reprints of news articles and photos that appeared in the paper, along with some original features.Whereas "Champion" covered the first 10 or so years of Stevie's career, "The Captain" covers all of it. The articles, written by Detroit Free Press writers Bill McGraw, Mitch Albom, Nicholas Cotsonika and others, follow Steve from his early days as a teenage Red Wing, referring to Steve as "baby-cheeked" and telling us "if he shaves, it's only for practice" (and that he used to order white milk in bars!); as he becomes The Captain; blossoms into one of the NHL's most prolific goal scorers under Jacques Demers and then a three-time Stanley Cup champion under Scotty Bowman. All while playing for only one team - the Detroit Red Wings."The Captain" is a great tribute to a man who personifies the words "class" and "perseverance" and the ice is a colder place without him. This book is a must-have for Yzerman fans everywhere, regardless of which team you cheer for.

The soundtrack is simply majestic, worthy of a big-screen epic film.While the subject matter is, of course, religious, it is not at all preachy; rather it is a very personal story of one man's transformation from "king of feasts" to a lowly, barefoot man who called the Sun and the Moon his brother and sister. Highly recommended.

The engrossing and thrilling story of St. Francis and his journey from a partier and "king of feasts" who dreamed of honor and glory to a humble religious brother who fell so deeply in love with God. Living in NYC, I spend a lot of time in transit, and this production truly transported me. I couldn't wait for the next train ride so that I could spend time with Francis and the amazing cast of characters who populated his life. I learned a great deal more about this man of God and think that God is speaking to so many hearts through this program! To lift hearts in song, to open our eyes to the poor, to marvel at the beauty of life in these dark days...The script is beautifully written, the actors are fantastic and the production/music is wonderful.You won't regret a second of it.Thanks be to God!

Wow, this was so we'll done and really good. Our family sat around after Christmas completely engrossed in the story. It seemed to end too soon even though it was 5 discs. Since family life theater no longer makes radio stories, someone has to take the torch. We also recognized many people from FLT productions from past.Hope they make more saints come to life in this way and produce more.

We are very much enjoying this audiobook. It is wonderfully made. My son and I are listening to it as part of our homeschool. I really hope they make more of these audio/radio theatre Saint stories in the future.

Alaafia! I found this book to be very informative. It provides the reader with a good background on the fundamentals and foundations of Ifa, both as a spiritual practice and as a way of life. There's also a good amount of information on how we can honor our ancestors and the orishas. While a book can never replace what you can learn from your Baba or Iya, this book will help you get started on your spiritual journey.

This book is wonderful because it not only speaks about the orisa but it also gives historial timelines as to the origins of the orishas. Sometime a lot of the gods from different pantheons are called mythical and this book confirms the validity of the true of origins of the orishas. I purchased the book because I was misguided one too many time before and I know own to do my own research.

It definitely left me with questions as to whether the info was based on Lucumi or Ifa traditions... Like, why say twins are either Shango or Osun, without divination? OR why leave a candle burning for x minutes? But it has good general info, and then you can refer back to your own Babalawo.

I didn't really connect to it but it was based off their testimony.

Well written and informative both with regards to experienced worshippers and those who are just embarking upon the road to seeking knowledge and learning. An excellent teaching tool for Godparents and an informed book for alleyo's.

This book is not only about Percy Dearmer and Martin Shaw. It's about Ralph Vaughan Williams, and his collecting efforts throughout the English countryside in the early part of the twentieth century, as did Bela Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly did in Hungary. There are many "unfamiliar" tunes to Americans here, which can only result in delight come Christmas-tide when you (or your parish) are looking for something "new" and delightful to sing. (Many of these tunes are so old, that they are new again.) Many are just unpolished gems, like going to Grandma's house and finding something old, careful, and sacred, that you just have to take them off the shelf and polish them. These tunes are not the current "bombast" which we get in new compositions, but old gems, which may be somewhat familiar, but definitely easy to sing. Whether or not your choir is at the level of King's College Cambridge, it doesn't matter, because RVW included many of these carols in this book as they would be accessible to the "common man" (or woman - let's just say the so-called "untrained" singer). They are gems - what more can be said? And what better way to keep them alive than by having your choir (if you are a choral conductor, like me) sing them?If you want an "unencumbered," simplified, and yet elegant Christmas, and you want to breed familiarity with hymns that both young and old will appreciate, then look no further than this book. If you want video screens and mega-church "hype," then please do not buy this book. Go find something bombastic that either Lady Gaga or Cher would sing for Christmas. If you want something warm and fuzzy, but still musically literate, then please purchase this book and preserve the fine and sacred carol tunes which make this book come alive . . .

I'm so happy to finally own a copy of this book. The Oxford Book series can always be counted on to be of the highest quality, carefully put together and well researched. I have the shorter version of this book released by Oxford, and plan to get the newer version of the original, longer book of carols, as well. So good to have these at Christmas, when my family gets together and sings, and fun to learn songs from these books that are new to us, too. A great addition to a music director's collection.

Such an amazing timeless collection! I have a copy from the 1970s, and but was concerned about wearing it out. This book is chock-full of gems. And it's for year-round use -- not just Christmas!!! There are "carols" for many festive occasions on the church calendar, as well as songs reflecting pre-Christian agrarian folk traditions. This is one of the best collections ever.

For me this book is the definitive expression of what a carol is and it's history in England through tumultuous times. While the documentation of the music is wonderful to have I find the Preface most enlightening. The carol is much more than a simple song for Christmas!

As a musician playing Celtic music, I love this book as a research source. Now, playing Celtic Christian music as well, I hope to find some great songs here for a Christmas program.

This is the standard. If you don't have at least one copy of this in your library, don't call yourself an organist, church musician, or musicologist. Really, it is indispensable. Voice teachers, you should use the lesser known tunes as sight singing exercises for your students. Composers, these texts have inspired countless Christmas pageants and have yet to exhaust their full potential.

Content is marvelous. Typeface is appallingly tiny.

Love this book, the fairies are so unique and fun! Although definitely an adult coloring book, half the fairies are practically half naked! & one actually is half naked! Haha! But it doesn't bother me, I don't care they are fun to color. They have great hair and the scenery is lovely too! More detailed than other books, gives you a bit more of a challenge. And although I prefer coloring with markers I've only used pencils so far...they just work really well! But since there's 2 of each picture I still have a chance to use markers! I highly recommend!

I have bought a bunch of fairie coloring books over the last 15 years or so(I've collecting coloring books since I was 2) and I absolutely love this coloring book. The faeries are all beautiful and happy, the adults are tastefully clothed and there are several pages with child fairies on them. You see them playing with forest creatures and each other-it's a great book for adults and children alike. It also has a link at JadeSummer.com for a free pdf version of the book. You will have to purchase the coloring book to get the codes asked for before you can download the pdf form. JadeSummer is really good at doing that. I wish all coloring book companies did this. I buy more JadeSummer coloring books than any other one company because their coloring books are done with a sense of pride in their work and a need to share it.

Received today and already colored my first picture. I started looking through the book and found that there are 2 of every picture half way through it starts all over. It does say that on the website I just didn’t read it and I seen others give bad reviews because if it. There are 30 different pictures but you get all 30 twice.With that said I like the pictures they are very pretty and the quality of the paper is nice. I use gel pens on my pictures and the paper held up wonderfully.I would like some more darker fairies I seen one I liked in the book.

This is such a beautiful book! I enjoy every moment colouring the pictures. Worth every cent!

1st i have to say that i LOVE the illustrations!the reasons this gets a 3 star review is the paper this is printed on, (its horrible - its like they used plan old cheap copy paper!), the pages are not perforated, and a number of the pages were stuck together at the bottom of the page! I have a started a few pictures and don't just cant bring myself to finish them as the pages are all curly and it just makes it no fun to do.I am happy that I can print these on a much higher quality paper at home. this is the reason it got 3 stars instead of 1. Again this review has NOTHING to do with the illustrations as i feel that they are beautiful!.

I really have a mixed opinion about this book. It is a nice book with lots of pictures and each page is black on the backside, which is really neat. The pictures themselves, though, are not quite what I thought they would be and in my opinion, a weird mix. I thought the book would be fairies, such as on the cover, and there are some like that, but then there are also very juvenile pictures that look like they came out of children's color book. At first glance, I would have just given it to my Grandaughter, who is 8, but then there are the more risqué pictures, that are a little mature for her to be coloring. So I dismantled the book, hers and mine!! Now, we will both get some enjoyment out of it!

Love this book! Beautiful detailed pictures that keep you coloring for hours. There is no limit on what you can bring out in coloring these drawings. My granddaughter and i love doing this together.
