It even goes so far as to say that you don't have to be perfect to become a model, just being yourself can open a lot of doors. I realize that starting out in modeling is hard, but this book will definitely take a lot of the pressure off. I learned how to market myself globally and even a lot of the top secrets of high fashion models around the world. The Model's Bible is very well written and the information is easy to follow. The author isn't trying to confuse the reader with industry talk, just real advice for the real world. Reading this book is like getting a boost up the ladder into the glamorous world of modeling and with as competitive as it is, every boost helps. I am not sure if the author read's these reviews at all, but I just want to say thank you for all of your help.

Of course, it’s not all glitz and glamour, there is work involved. The Model’s Bible is very important for anyone that wants to look that modeling world seriously. It’s a no nonsense guide that will help you in a lot of ways. I’m not going to be a model, but I have a new found respect for those that get into it.R.C Lane creates a good read, and one that definitely shines light on how to get into it, and how to make it. There are no guarantees, but this will at least give you a fighting chance. I liked it, check it out.
Okay. I am not a model and am not trying to become one. But this book was a gift and I've seen enough of a certain reality show to be interested in the industry. Not going to lie: I half expected this book to be mostly about networking and personality. But it's very straightforward guide with a lot of practical advice.It starts by insisting that you find your own look and style and stick with that. This book doesn't encourage you to fit into some idealized mold. He points out that trends are always changing and that there's going to be a market that your look is perfect for. And if you want something high-end, be patient. Who knows what will be in two or three seasons from now?And he doesn't glamourize the industry. There can be a lot of fun and a lot of perks to the job. But it's still a job. The hours are demanding and you are always working -- how you are perceived everywhere is crucial to your professional image. If you have a bad reputation, no one will want you to be the face of their product. At least, not if you're a new face in the industry. We all can name celebs we can't believe get campaigns but they paid their dues years ago and are a completely different story.One thing I really appreciated about this book is how specific it gets about the industry. You will find out average rates for jobs, the different people on a photo shoot, and the vocabulary you need to get started (like calling agencies about their open calls). I true wasn't expecting such detail in this guide. It's very down-to-earth and full of honest advice. And because the author is a male model, you get a very useful perspective on working in the industry as a man.For people who haven't worked with agencies in the past, this book will give a great introduction about what to expect and what falls under the scam category. With so many agencies out there, and so many people who want to model more than anything, it's very easy to become a victim of a rip-off artist. If you have any concerns about this, Lane will give you a clear understanding of the difference.Finally, you'll hear a lot of advice about financial issues. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of a big paycheck, but modeling isn't the most reliable of jobs (not that any job can truly be relied on these days). I liked that Lane suggests learning about investing and even going back to college to ensure there is always a back-up option. Especially since modeling is not a life-long pursuit. You can try your hand at another aspect of the industry or try to break into acting, but in the end, you must have a plan that will support you.Lane wrote an exceptionally encouraging book. If you're trying to break into the industry, this book will help you feel incredibly informed about the job. It's a quick and helpful read that I highly recommend.
